Some beach sand is parrotfish poop
Parrotfish grind up coral reef material in their guts and excrete it as sand.
Why it is true
The fish scrape algae off rocks and dead coral with parrot-like beaks, and the inedible calcium carbonate comes out as sand. Parrotfish can produce hundreds of pounds of white sand each year.
