Flamingos get their pink color from food
Flamingo feathers turn pink because pigments called carotenoids are present in the algae and small animals they eat.
Why it is true
Young flamingos begin with gray or white plumage. Their bodies process carotenoid pigments from the food chain and deposit those pigments in growing feathers.
